Oran Kearney is enjoying his first week in charge of Scottish Premiership side St Mirren and could even secure the signing of a former West Ham centre-half.

Anton Ferdinand was photographed training with the Buddies on Monday morning. The brother of legendary Manchester United defender Rio, Anton is a free agent after leaving Southend United by mutual consent on transfer deadline day.

Now 33, Ferdinand had made 71 appearances for the League One club since joining from Reading back in 2016.

It is thought Kearney is considering offering the former England U21 international a deal until the end of the season, hoping to plug a leaky defence that has conceded nine goals in four league fixtures so far this season, picking up just three points.

Ferdinand made over 200 Premier League starts for West Ham, Sunderland and QPR between 2005 and 2012.

Back at Coleraine, Kearney's old club have advertised their post, chairman Colin McKendry confirming international interest.
